Win A Copy Of Digging Into Wordpress

Digging Into Wordpress is the latest book written by Chris Coyier and Jeff Starr, there are 400 pages of Wordpress tips and tricks inside and they cover almost anything you need to really get to grips with Wordpress.
The book has 9 chapters which are colour coordinated to allow you to quickly find the reference you where looking for and it has a number of example images to help you through and get the required end result.
I’m not one for buying books usually but I actually did pick this one up and have been reading the PDF throughout the day, I can’t wait for the actual book to arrive as I have picked up a few ideas briefly reading it.
There is alot of information covered in the book, some is straightforward some is just damn clever. What I enjoyed most is the way it takes you from your Wordpress install, into theme development, comment and function hacks etc.. and finishes with SEO and keeping your site healthy.
Chris and Jeff have made over 100 Wordpress sites between them, and have vast experience with the software, so even the other Wordpress experts might pick up a few tips too.
A few pages:

I would like to own and read Digging Into Wordpress because I have been writing two Wordpress blogs for my community (architecture and architects, those seeking inspiration) for a year now and have a grasp of creating content of value to a growing readership but have not made the best use of the medium itself – the Wordpress blog – form, format, layout, add-ons, etc. I see this as a huge opportunity area for myself and my community. And though I could hire a consultant I believe that a comprehensive guide such as Digging Into Wordpress – especially one that will be updated from time to time – will be the ultimate way for me to grow as a blogger, reach more people, and make better use of their time and energy when visiting my sites. Thank you.

I’ve been converting my web site, which I started in the late 1990s, to Wordpress at the suggestion of a web designer I met on Twitter (after a lot of emails and IMs).
I am technically adept (okay, I’m a geek). I’d love to read Digging into Wordpress cover to cover to learn more ways to get more from this fantastic CMS. I’ve been learning bits and pieces of Wordpress as I do things with the theme I’ve chosen and the widgets I’m using, but a comprehensive look at the toolkit would help me tremendously.
And I’d be pleased to write a short review on my blog, as I do for all the books I read.
Thanks and have fun! – Bob
PS – keep up the good work, I review your RSS feed at least daily! – RLH

I sure hope that I am one of the lucky ones! I love designing and have been having a bit of trouble with wordpress. I love visiting CSS-Tricks on a daily basis to see what Chris has put out. A shame for him no to be in Portland anymore!
Cheers Chris!
January 1, 2010
I need help! I have been trying to get my hands around Wordpress for just about a year so that I can start a public service blog, but so far other sources of information have been to incomplete or too nerdy, I need something that covers all the bases, clearly written, is well designed, and inspiring! Digging into Wordpress, seems to be all that an more! I would love it if this was the proper push that I need to finally be successful with Wordpresss!
January 1, 2010
I was so excited when this book was released, and have even fawned over the preview I saw when it hit. Having this tool would be such a bonus in my quest to master WordPress, and rank as one of the most valuable resources in my virtual toolkit. Winning this copy would prove that 2010 is going to be different, dammit, it’s gonna be my year…
Though, if I don’t win, I don’t want you to feel like I will hit a doom and gloom spiral believing that this year will is ruined, and be blaming it all on you. Trust me, I will bare a bit of the burden of blame for pinning all of my new year hopes to this one contest entry, so it won’t all be on you. ;p
Seriously, though, thanks for the opportunity.

Digging into WordPress is the number one item on my “to get” list. I’ve really been focusing on WordPress for the past few months and have decided to also make it my main focus in 2010. My goal is to become advanced at WordPress theme development by the end of the year.
I’ve also been looking for some intermediate to advanced resources on WordPress since I’m now past the beginner stage and Digging into WordPress seems like the perfect choice. Winning one of these copies would completely make my year!
January 1, 2010
I want to win because I have wanted to get started with wordpress but most of them have been either too advanced or useless. This seems like the perfect book for me to get started with wordpress.
January 2, 2010
Why do I need a copy? I host a WordPress tutorial screencast/podcst with about 2000 monthly viewers and my viewers are begging me to do WordPress book reviews. I would love to review the book on my podcast but I can’t afford to buy a copy, and me reviewing the book would probably result in quite a few sales.
January 2, 2010
After a couple bad experiences with older Wordpress versions I’ve been avoiding it ever since. Even as it grows to be so large and popular. It would be awesome to get a good book that will spark my interest in it again…Plus I can review it on my new blog!
January 3, 2010
Would love to win a copy as my new born baby daughter has taken my spare cash I’d like to spend on a copy.
January 4, 2010
I would love to check this book out when redesigning my site for 2010. Can’t go wrong with the guys behind this book!
January 4, 2010
That’s it! I do want a copy of it! I started e few months ago with wordpress and this could be great one in my learning process!
Great promo, indeed.
January 4, 2010

January 4, 2010
I basically want to start a free premium wordpress theme club where in I could provide free wordpress themes to users. Currently most theme clubs charge a lot of money and I wish I could contribute to the community by providing free premium wordpress themes.
Hence, I wish I could win the PDF copy of Digging into Wordpress and start off with my dream of providing free premium themes.
January 4, 2010
I would love a copy as I think that making the book informative and gorgeous is a trend that should be supported by all web development books (pdf or printed).
January 4, 2010
Why I need a copy of this book? Because I really want to learn more stuff about Wordpress, and I know there are lots of books about wordpress , but I cant afford it, Im hoping I will win.
January 4, 2010
I’m a web developer and have always wanted to learn to develop for wordpress as well as master it. This book would be very helpful for that. Also, my dog says he wants the book and I think he’d enjoy me reading it to him.
January 4, 2010
I’ve been coming up to speed with Wordpress since I first used it on a group charity project this past September. I’m now working on my third WP site, a blog and portfolio for my design business. I’ve learned a ton from reading the Codex, reading CSS Tricks, and of course, by simple trial and error. I really appreciate Chris’ down-to-earth style and find his teaching methods very approachable, so I’m quite interested to see what’s in this book.
January 4, 2010
I am a web designer and photographer with little knowledge of programming so I cannot create a fully functional website unless I use a programmer for coding. I am very interested in Wordpress as it will be a great tool to convert my layouts into functional websites. I would like to win this book, thanks for the opportunity. All the best!
January 4, 2010
I have been turning to Chris and css-tricks for some time now when I need web help and inspiration. As I have been eager to learn Wordpress for a while now, I have no reason not to turn to Chris (and Jeff of course) for learning it. I am a college student who is of course in debt, and working a part time job, so my book buying budget is slim to none right now. Hope to be able to receive a copy!
January 4, 2010
I would like one because I’m really interested in the content. And it’s *wirebound*!! I know that will speed my learning
January 4, 2010
I really, really need the book so i can finally learn how to properly digg into wordpress with scrypt and style and some css tricks of course
January 4, 2010
I would love to win a copy, because I really enjoy Chris’s tutorials and think the book would be a great read.
January 4, 2010
I’m a student and I pay for my noodles by making websites. Thanks to Chris, I’ve started using Wordpress (and jQuery) and I still have lots to learn. This book would make my life much easier and the web a better place.
January 4, 2010
I would love nothing more than to win a copy of this book.
I read Chris and Jeff’s blogs all the time and have no doubt that this is a wonderful book. I have a basic knowledge of developing Wordpress themes and have created a couple of simple sites on it. I am looking to literally “dig into Wordpress” and learn more about it so that I can offer Wordpress sites as part of my services to my potential clients.
Cheers.
January 4, 2010
I think that I’ll be enjoying the page designs of the book as much as I will be benefiting from its content
January 4, 2010
I would like to read this book, because I am just starting with wordpress and need all the info I can get
January 4, 2010
I need a copy to be able to switch entirely to WordPress as CMS for my clients and partners. It should be a great for both me as a present and my customers as a perfect CMS.
January 4, 2010
I want to learn more about WordPress theme development and I’ve been a huge fan of CSS Tricks and Chris Coyier for a long time
January 4, 2010
I’ve been following Chris Coyier for I don’t know how long.
His websites are great and among the most informative in the field. I have the book on my “buy” list but it would be so cool to get it for free.
January 4, 2010
I love Wordpress and I really need this book to become a Wordpress Ninja!
Fingers Crosed
January 4, 2010
I’d like this book to have every techniques that can be possible be done with wordpress in one place
January 4, 2010
I would love to get my hands on this book. First off, kudos on the spiral bound. Note to other publishers: This is a great idea! Every tech manual should be bound this way! Second, Chris you are a true inspiration to the web development community.
I have been following you on your various sites well over a year now and have learned a ton! My main focus is really to amp up my skills in Wordpress to create great looking functional sites.
January 4, 2010
I’ve been lacking the motivation to really get to the nitty gritty of Wordpress. All the other books are boring, step by step, same old same old. If this book is anything like Chris’s blog and tutorials, it will be great. I would love to snag a free copy to start learning the ticks of the trade now. Even if I do not get it, I plan on purchasing it eventually.
January 4, 2010
Id love a copy so I could frame it put it on my wall and perhaps too I could worship at the altar of word press.
Word press rocks
January 4, 2010
I would love this book as we run several district sites on WP and I use it for personal blogs as well as for clients who are looking for very flexible solutions.
With this, we could expand what we do in the district with WP and make it top notch.
January 4, 2010
I would love to get a copy of this book. I’ve just finished a couple of projects where I used WP just for the blog aspect of their sites, and skinned the WP theme to match the rest of the site. It actually worked out really well, and it’s quite seamless.
But I am really interested in the CMS aspect of WP, and I have a site for a collective group of midwives that would love to do their own updates. WP is definitely the way to go with this project.
And what better book!! Thanks all for the opportunity!
–Jason
January 4, 2010
It’s a new year – you have a great blog, I’m sure it’s a great book – makes sense! Thanks for your consideration & great job on the blog (and I’m sure on the book). Keep more coming! In fact how about a book from the blog?
January 4, 2010
Because I am a bit of a fanboy for CSS-Tricks and Script & Style, and this might be a way to get an autographed copy from Chris.
January 4, 2010
I’ve been a follower of css-tricks since the summer of 2008. I consider myself a beginner programmer and I would love to have a copy to help my wordpress programming skills!
Thanks.
January 4, 2010
…cause any book that is bound by coils has gotta be cool to read, eh?
January 4, 2010
I’m in the business of solving problems for people (hopefully we all are if we are in a service based industry). Wordpress is the answer to many people’s problems at a rate that the everyday person can afford, especially for CMS. But while I can learn about Wordpress through great blogs like NetTuts and CSS-Tricks, sometimes there’s gaps in my knowledge that I do not want to pass onto the client.
A copy of ‘Digging Into Wordpress’ would help assure me that I am doing things correctly, and using Wordpress’ features to the max to help get the most out of it for each client I help.
Either way…Happy New Year everyone!
January 4, 2010
I’m really interested in the book. I will soon dive into PHP for my next project and really interested in using WordPress has a CMS. I think that book is just what I’m looking for.
January 4, 2010
Thanks to the fine writings and inspiration of people like Chris and Jeff Way, it has shown me all that I’d be missing if i DIDN’T follow, learn all I can, put that learning into practice, and generate the original ideas then myself!
But I’m still in the learning and trying out stage, and unfortunately I didn’t get DIW, the top of my Christmas list =[
January 4, 2010
I would love a copy of digging into wordpress. I am new to the wordpress scene, and am working as best as I can to create templates and work with it. I know this book would be able to to help me become a better designer as well as a better programmer. If is is anything like your blogs, digging into wordpress and css tricks, then this book will be amazing and a great help.

January 4, 2010
My company is planning to make the move to using Wordpress for our public website this year, which means I need to get savvy quick! This would be perfect to get me well on my way.
January 4, 2010
I’m new to WordPress having only done a couple sites in it. I’m currently using Joomla for most of my sites and I’m seriously thinking of switching. WordPress seems easier and there is an abundant amount of resources for it. I could really use this book!
January 4, 2010
Since Wordpress is one of my main specialties, I’d love to to increase my skills as much as possible by having this book!
January 4, 2010
Because I like to eat pickles w/ peanutbutter. Because I love my beautiful wife! Because I like creme-brule coffee at starbucks. Because I have a beard. Because I love snowboarding. Because Chris Coyier is sow-tow-ta-tee-awesome! Because I like chocolate a lot! Because web working is the coolest profession!
And because I already bought myself a copy of the book and would like to gift this copy to a friend who’s just getting started in the web design business!
January 4, 2010
I like wordpress but often I want to do something and I don’t know how to do it and I think this book willl help me master wordpress.
January 4, 2010
My 5 year old said the book was the best thing he has seen on web design all year and if a 5 year old likes it only 3 days into the new decade I don’t know who will!
January 4, 2010
There’s no other platform that I have used that gets close to the enjoyment that Wordpress brings. I’ve been taught so much at css-tricks.com so to have Chris’s book would be wonderful!
January 4, 2010
i love Arby’s…..oh and I’ve been gradually making headway with learning the best processes for creating Wordpress themes and know this book would give me a great big spring in my step. I follow both css-tricks.com and digwp.com and know that the knowledge that seeps from the minds of both Chris & Jeff is right on track with the direction I am heading.
January 4, 2010
i gotta have a copy of this because i was just savagely beaten and mugged by a hoard of rampaging norsemen…and mike leach just got fired so i’m kinda bummed about that too.
January 4, 2010
WordPress is amazing. Chris and Jeff, equally amazing. I aspire to know the ins and outs of WordPress as thoroughly as they do, I’m a fast learner but I’ve only tipped the iceburg on its vast capabilities. I’m very eager to further expand my knowledge with knowledge and experiences of Chris and Jeff. If I don’t win this book I’m definitely buying it.
January 4, 2010
I want this book ’cause WP + Chris Rulez period
January 4, 2010
Love to have the book so I can help others with Wordpress by writing on blogs like this. Oh, of course to one day put the Wordpress smack down on Chris
January 4, 2010
Pleeease. I’m graduating from RIT this February. It’d be a great graduation gift
January 5, 2010
I really love your site, and don’t have $67 to spend on what is likely to be the best WordPress book ever printed!
Please help a fellow coder out… PLEASE!
January 5, 2010
I am looking for a text book for my students that provides them with a solid technical background in creating a WordPress site but also one that is well organized and stresses proper design fundamentals.
January 5, 2010
I have been following Chris for some time and his tutorials have been an immense help in building my skills as a web designer. I have made some forays into Wordpress, but feel if I had the technical backup help of a book like this I would be more confident in suggesting a wordpress book to a client. Since I am starting this year with freelancing as my full time business, any help from experts would be most appreciated.
Thanks!
January 5, 2010
I have a couple of websites set up with Wordpress – and they are using simple templates. I would love to learn how to make them fantastic! Thanks for having this giveaway!
January 5, 2010
if this book is ANYTHING like this chris’ tips & tricks website (why wouldn’t it be?), this will be incredible help to wordpress users of all levels.
January 5, 2010
I would love nothing more than to have this book. The typography is beautiful, Chris and Jeff are both excellent writers and are masters at educating. I just started with WordPress a year ago and have fallen in love, I have completely redesigned my site 5+ times.
In short I need this book because I am a poor freelancer that wants to learn anything & everything WordPress.
PS. Nice site, never been here before!
January 5, 2010
Our church is in need of a new website, so we decided to go the WordPress route…after several attempts, we have a mediocre site that has never been published to the server because the site just doesn’t work correctly. We’ve tried custom, manual coding to speed things up, eliminated bloated plugins, etc. It looks like we’ll have to start fresh again and it would be nice to have this book to help keep us focused on what works.
January 5, 2010
I’d love a copy, cuz I didn’t get one for christmas
January 5, 2010
I would like a copy of the book because I need all the help I can get!
January 5, 2010
I’d love to get a copy to try and make better wordpress themes with it and i can’t afford to buy the book.
January 5, 2010
I am 14 years old.
I am getting into web design and am learning a lot of stuff.
I so far have learned HTML, PHP, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, and some basic MySQL.
I would like to learn more about design and coding, especially wordpress.
That is why I would appreciate getting a copy of Digging into WordPress.
January 5, 2010
I would love to have a copy because I feel I have a lot to learn still about Wordpress. To me, it’s like the “Photoshop” of content management systems. It’s easy to get started and to get by, but there is endless amounts of things to learn.
I’ve been using Photoshop since version 3 and I feel I still haven’t scratched the surface. As for Wordpress, I’ve created a number of somewhat successful websites but I often am searching Google for solutions. Every project that involves Wordpress I find myself trying to do things I’ve never done with WP prior, so reading this book will definitely open my eyes to more possibilities!
January 5, 2010
hi happy new year!
i hope that i will be selected to win this book because i want to know more about wordpress and chris have great design skills
so his book will help me to create a better user experience websites
January 6, 2010
I’ve been following Chris’ screencast on writing a WP theme. I am a creative developer and writer stuck in a corporate CMS world. I hope the book can help set me free, nudge me toward web dev independence, and possibly clear up my dry, flaky, winter skin.
January 6, 2010
I remember when Chris posted a 3 section video tutorial on converting his psd to wordpress. Those videos were so influential that I went an got my domain and started building my own site. He is a really good teacher when it comes to web design. So I’m sure digging into wordpress would be an amazing resource for me, the one that I can go to anytime.
Thanks for the opportunity of winning this book.
January 6, 2010
I know what you are talking about @Ariyo.Chris coyier narrates so good that everything seems so easy and you definitely will get motivated by his screencasts. Thanks a ton McBonio!
January 6, 2010
Always follow the screencasts and articles on the site, as a beginner Chris has helped me develop my skills. I would like to build my own client base and work with the web more and feel that the book would help me achive my goals.
Chris thanks for your inspriration and for making easy to understand articles and thought provoking articles.
January 6, 2010
I played around with Wordpress on a few personal projects but know I’ve only scratch the surface of what it can do. With this book, knowing how well Chris explains things, I’ll be able to dig a little deeper.
Congrats Chris on the book and everything you’ve done on CSS-Tricks!
January 6, 2010
Hello,
I would like to have a copy of “Digging Into Wordpress” because…
I’am FRENCH !!!
Et oui, il est difficile d’avoir en France des livres “techniques” sur Wordpress et pour progresser il est utile d’avoir une référence.
Je pense que “Digging into wordpress” est le livre qu’il faut.
Jean.
January 7, 2010
I’m designer and webdev who has been itching to dig into the guts of wordpress. I’ve looked at a tutorial here and a tutorial there but it would be great to have a single reference book to read throughly.
Cheers!
Colin
January 8, 2010
I would very much like to win a copy of Digging Into WordPress. I teach web design and am looking not only to develop my ability in that area but am hoping to broaden the skills and career opportunities of my students. So much is required of young designers these days. Learning to develop for WP could give them the edge they deserve.
Either way, best of luck with the book.
